Steven Korn has a long history of business experience and a wealth of expertise in a variety of fields—among them news media, entertainment, leadership, mergers and acquisitions, private investing and board membership. In fact, though currently self-employed, he continues to serve in a board membership position, specifically on the board of directors of the Brown Shoe Company (NYSE: BWS).
His life is not solely devoted to business, however, and he does maintain a number of interests and passions outside of the office. His family is foremost in his mind. Korn is happily married, and he is the proud father of three children, two daughters and a son.
He enjoys sports, in particular he enjoys playing golf. The Korn family is devoted to baseball, and his son is currently playing ball his high school team, as well as a travel team. He plans to continue playing once he gets to college, and Steven Korn could not be prouder: There are few things he enjoys more than attending his son’s baseball games, and strives to be as supportive as he possibly can of his son’s athletic aspirations.
A strong believer in the importance of giving back, he has also served in board membership positions for a number of charities and nonprofits over the years.
As for what has enabled him to become so successful in his life, he attributes part of it to hard work and part of it to the pleasure of working with talented people over the years—but he also believes that he has simply been lucky in many regards, and is immensely grateful for the fortunate life he and his family have been able to live.
Steven Korn has amassed success in the world of business, serving as a high ranking executive in several media companies, and on multiple boards of directors. Today, he is devoted primarily to board service; in particular, he serves on the board of directors for the Brown Shoe Company. He is currently seeking further opportunities for board service; self-employed, he is most passionate about spending time with his family.
To his business endeavors, Steven Korn brings a strong educational background. He received his JD from Cornell Law School in Ithaca, N.Y., in 1978. He was a member of the National Moot Court Team and served as the chancellor of the Cornell Moot Court Board from 1977 through 1978. Before that, he graduated from Vassar College in Poughkeepsie, N.Y., in 1975; he earned an A.B. with honors, and he was a Phi Beta Kappa.
A long time resident of Atlanta, Steven is self-employed as a private investor and a corporate director. He especially enjoys the freedom and flexibility it affords him. He invests directly in a variety of private and public companies, as well as private equity funds, for his own account. He has also served on a variety of corporate boards, including public companies, private companies and charitable and educational institutions.

He was responsible for all business, sales, marketing, circulation and editorial activities of this daily newspaper, which was targeted at the legal community.
His list of achievements goes on from there: From 1996 through the summer of 2000, Steven Korn was the vice chairman and chief operating officer of Cable News Network, Inc., in Atlanta.
