Dr Klaus Platz is a German academic and Hamilton-based Surgical Registrar and Colorectal Fellow. He has fulfilled the roles of Consultant, Academic Surgeon and Research Fellow in a number of universities and teaching hospitals in New Zealand, the US and Germany.
Klaus is presently a member of a range of global medical organisations, such as the European Society for Surgical Research and the European Society for Organ Transplantation (ESOT)
The specialities of Dr Platz include, thoracic, laparoscopic, oncologic, cardiovascular, hepatobiliary, and transplantation surgeries, which he has completed for instructional commitments and independently.
He has implemented more than 7,376 operations internationally to date.
Since 1992, Klaus Platz has been co-ordinating research undertakings for medical specialists and teaching medical pupils.
He has dedicated more than 20 years to leading research around a diversity of medical subjects; most conspicuously about the body’s reaction following and during the transplantation of the kidney, liver and small bowel.
As a result Dr Klaus Platz has contributed to almost 200 individual journals worldwide, and accomplished more than 50 verbal presentations at scientific conferences in German and in English.
Dr Platz intends on continuing his contribution to media research in New Zealand and internationally through a range of medical projects he is involved in.
