Woebot Health

Woebot was founded in 2017. After over a decade of work in Psychology at Stanford researching and treating individuals our founder Alison Darcy became aware of the acute need to increase the supports to help people encountering issues with their mental health. It was pondering this need for more capacity to help those suffering from mental health issues that Alison came up with the idea that technology might be able to help. Woebot was created to provide a conversational interface that might be able to help equip individuals with expert-created tools and skills to help support better mental health. Woebot's first office was in a garage in Palo Alto. People often hear of startups in garages but in our case that story is true. The team was small but mighty back then with Alison as CEO, working alongside our first Engineer and first Content Writer. Everyone did everything back then designing conversations, deploying them to Woebot and chatting to our rapidly growing customers and fans. If you submitted a trouble ticket to Woebot in the early days you got your answer from our founder Alison so you really did get to speak to the manager! Woebot has grown a lot since then and we now have 25 Woeboteers and we are still hiring. We have a swanky office in SOMA San Francisco and a dynamic team working out of Dogpatch Labs in Dublin, Ireland. Woebot is undertaking millions of synchronous conversations and chatting with users in 130 countries. Our CEO, Alison used to say that the only place we didn't have users was the Antarctic Peninsula but we might even have users there now! Every day brings a new challenge and we are always learning at Woebot. Woeboteers are breaking new ground in the realm of digital therapeutics and working hard to radically change the way mental health support is delivered. Woebot has been recognized with awards and praise but always our biggest success is a thank you from a user and a recommendation to a friend.
