Far from any Bahamian beaches or Caribbean hot spots sits The University of St. Thomas (UST). The school is a Catholic university with campuses in Minneapolis and St. Paul, Minnesota. It offers courses and programs in seven academic divisions: education and philosophy, arts and sciences, business, engineering, divinity, law, and social work. The school has an enrollment of about 11,000 undergraduate and graduate students with a student-to-teacher ratio of 15:1. UST, along with military prep school St. Thomas Academy, grew out of St. Thomas Aquinas Seminary, which was founded in 1885 by Archbishop John Ireland.
