Lt Cmdr Martin Holguin has served in the United States Navy since 1999 aboard five U.S. warships in positions ranging from division officer to commanding officer. Martin Holguin also served with the Chief of Naval Operations Strategic Studies Group as a Director Fellow.
Currently, Lt Cmdr Martin Holguin is an Integrated Air and Ballistic Missile Defense Planner on the U.S. Third Fleet Commander’s staff. Martin Holguin is also a prospective EMBA candidate at the University of Notre Dame in South Bend, Indiana and will be graduating in May.
Martin Holguin is originally from El Paso, Texas, but has lived in various places throughout United States, on the east and west coast. Growing up, Martin was passionate about competitive team sports and fitness–he particularly loved playing baseball, soccer, basketball, and football. In 1999, he graduated from the University of Texas at El Paso with a B.S. in Electrical Engineering. Martin Holguin went on to earn an M.S. in Electrical Engineering from the Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey, California in 2006.
For fun, Martin Holguin enjoys running, ocean swimming, and physical fitness. He loves running through scenic routes along the coast and logs anywhere from 70 to 110 miles per month when healthy. He enjoys keeping track of his miles on the Nike+ app, as well as DailyMile. Martin Holguin is deeply connected to his family and spends most of his free time participating in enriching activities with his wife and children. He hopes to complete a full Ironman triathlon in 2014.
