Would Not Commit to Compensation Agreement The phone interview went well after contacting me on Elance. Elance is closing down so I agreed to work directly with them starting in September. I sent them my compensation agreement. They ignored it. They never addressed how I would be paid. They did set up my email account and gave me access to that. But after once more asking them how I would be paid, all I got back was my first project and a client to contact directly, immediately, same day, "get to work". So, seeing that they were probably going to try to drag out payment or not pay me at all, I told them I needed a deposit for the first project, 50% down and 50% upon approval of design and all compensation would be transferred through electronic means (PayPal) until we had an established working relationship (since I am located in New Jersey and have no jurisdiction for making claims for non-payment in California). They abruptly terminated the project, canceled my YouBars.com email address and told me via email that it was unfortunate but they don't work with freelancers that way. But they never did tell me HOW THEY DO pay their freelancers.
