Toxic, dysfunctional company driven by narcissistic CEO avoid at all costs This company might have had a chance around 2009/10 when the workforce was still (relatively) new, and the 'product' was still in its infancy with original code. The problem is the entire operation is run by Alan Morelli, a deeply narcissistic 'CEO' seemingly hellbent on hurting the people and destroying the organisation he is supposed to lead. He has a deep sense of superiority and delusions of talent which creates a working environment where employees constantly walk on eggshells. To feed his ego and need for validation there are endless, pointless meetings that go on for hours simply because their sole purpose is for him to show off. Alan frequently behaves in openly demeaning and condescending ways towards employees, vendors and even the company' clients. The target of this behaviour tends to be based on whoever isn't responding in a sycophantic way towards him. He boasts about extravagant opportunities (always thanks to himself, of course), potential acquisitions and other investments. Few of these come to real fruition and those that don't produce any ROI. In the last nearly 10 years vast amounts of money has been wasted on projects which are unable to progress or come to fruition as they (and the teams involved with them) are stunted due to the defective senior leadership directly caused by Alan. Some members of the senior management behave as codependents around him and thus support this narcissistic behavior, enabling the dysfunction to continue. The result is the company has always performed poorly and delivered non-existent returns to shareholders. Alan has a total disdain for deadlines, processes and his failure to assume responsibility for any software development delays, mistakes, etc continues year after year. This is the reality and the elephant in the room which no one in the company, at all levels, is willing to publicly challenge. The exception being the Delaware legal case which dragged on for several years involving previous key stakeholders and board members attempting (sadly unsuccessfully) to remove Alan from the company in an attempt to steer it back onto a functional course. This is fully searchable online. Female employees who have family commitments or become pregnant are treated as expendable. Any contributions they may have previously made are disregarded. This toxic environment is amplified by Alan who is highly prone to antisocial work behaviours; he has been sued for sexual harassment by female employees and openly boasts about destroying the relationships of any employees, including senior management he deems not worthy. There are no professional offices; the main operation is run out of two houses on Mantua Road. The main one is Alan' private home where employees are expected to work from (a workplace involves finding a random spot to sit for the day) and the other is a run-down, mold-infested building with decrepit facilities where the software developers work. The fact that the Department of Labor hasn't yet been notified of this structure and the appalling work conditions is shocking.
