Toll on mental health & BAD MANAGEMENT Poor management, unwilling to accept differing opinions. Managers have VERY clear favorites - those who suck up to mgt clearly get what they want vs. those who actually do their job. Just because I don't like the same college teams as my manager and don't flirt with donors, I'm not a valued member of the staff? Just because you have a competent employee doesn't mean they should be run into the ground. There needs to be some balance. Incompetent employees are not held to the same standards as those who do their job, and this creates a weird power dynamic among staff. Also, middle/upper management talk a lot of sh** about others...that creates a weird vibe & lack of trust with entry-level staff. Also, safety was CLEARLY not a priority, even at a facility with homeless, drug/alcohol recovery programs, etc. No real security guard, no emergency action plans, no serious evacuation plans, and concerns from staff were not taken seriously. "Please send us your safety concerns," emails were sent, but real concerns were never validated/followed up on. As a woman, that doesn't make you feel safe coming to work OR heard/seen by your supervisors/HR.
