Taking Advantage of Employees Under Spiritual pretext The Chopra Center uses employees like no other company I've ever worked for. They treat them (and pay them) as if it is a huge privilege to work there. The turn-over rate is obscene, moreso than any other company I have ever worked for or even heard of by 10 fold. This is because people are attracted to the company and think that since it is "spiritual" it must be a good place to work, even if the pay is quite low. There is a perpetual carrot of hope always dangled before employees that things are getting better, and will get better. People believe this and believe that if they just give a little more and wait longer things will change. However, they never do. The only thing that changes are more and more demands and maltreatment until the person quits. Compounding problems is that because the company refuses (or can not because it is perpetually not making money for nearly 20 years from what I can gather) is that qualified people are seldom hired. Qualified people in all levels either a) won't work for %30-%50 less than they make otherwhere, and b) If a qualified person is hired they don't last long because they refuse to put up with the BS. This means that only non-qualified people are hired because they will work cheaply. This is obvious when you take a look at the employees. (Even the other reviews seem to be from interns and right out of college kids, which explains their ratings.) Structurally, the company is a disaster. There is no clear chain of command. Often times absurd people are consulted for matters in which they have no reasonable involvement. Seemingly all decisions are group decisions. Simply put, there is too much female energy, and no point A to B thinking or acting. Spiritually, the company is bankrupt. Clients are nothing more than $ signs, which is fine (it is a business after-all), except for the spiritual pretext convincing them otherwise. The programs are mostly same, with clients being sold otherwise. Using volunteers like servents, again, under the pretext of "seva," or helping others. I've already talked about employee treatment.
