Show?s Over You learn pretty brutally that the company prioritizes success at any cost but sugarcoats this in employee perks. Commiserating with your peers in frustration there is as much of the culture as the free lunch. Management often stresses their desire to help people grow, but only few deliver. Getting feedback that?s clear and actionable for you to get to the next level, or even just get a project done, is often unclear, subjective, and beats the morale out of you. It?s largely difficult to feel like your work has any impact or to feel given credit for how much you commit to it. This is especially true when the company?s having a tough month, it feels like there?s a layer of added scrutiny on every team, every project, everyday. And tough times are the norm, with us hitting goal only a couple of months a year. The company feels like it?s lost its way at a time where we?re being swiftly pushed past by competitors. The exec team changes their mind constantly and disagreeing with their decisions is futile. The environment often felt belabored or tense to the point that working from home becomes necessary to keep going. Conversations about potentially exciting mergers always died as fast as they came in. The turnover rate, too, is statement-making by itself. And the slack culture? you are treated like you?re on demand. It?s agonizing. Small things got urgent, late (or weekend? lots of weekends) slacks, with less and less concern for any boundary between work and life.
