Poor Management and Overworked Staff There are often massive lay-offs due to "business needs." It is understandable that due to the fluctuation in volume of claims, sometimes there are highs and lows in the amount of work that is necessary. However, management does not seem to understand this. When they feel that there is an influx, they spend the money and resources in hiring and training a bunch of low level staff - only to fire large groups when claim volume lowers. This destabilizes the dynamic because it forces a new wave of new hires who need to spend time and resources learning the functions of the company, which causes the experienced staff to assume more responsibilities in not only having to handle the increase in claim load, but also the task of training the new staff. This causes a clear rift between the management and lower level employees, as it creates an obvious tension between the two parties. The lower level staff is completely stressed at the fluctuation of work load. When work load is high, they are worried that they are under-performing. When work load is low, they are worried that they will lose their jobs due to "business needs." The management is either completely unable to comprehend this, or okay with their understanding that they will just terminate people that are unhappy. Management is also not good at leading by example. They are quick to point fingers any time there appears to be an issue, at the fear of assuming any responsibility themselves. When employees fall behind on their tasks due to the effects of an over-worked workforce, management condescendingly probes their employees until they have reached a misplaced conclusion. It almost appears as if this company keeps re-branding itself under different names in order to deflect these allegations that reflect a terrible work environment and culture. (The company operated under the names of The Law Offices of Thomas W. Rutledge, APC and Rutledge and Associates, APC) I would NOT recommend this place to seek employment, unless for temporary placement until a better opportunity arises.
