Do you care about human rights? Don't work here! Don?t believe the fawning, sycophantic reviews that have magically populated in past couple of months - despite the good work that the organization manages to do (in spite of its own best efforts), working at HRF was a constant struggle and drained the mind, body, and soul. The organization is poorly managed, and absolutely has ?founder syndrome.? The CEO reigns as a king and his word is final. On the more ?benign" end, these decisions forced employees to scramble and change projects and programs at the very last minute with little notice - on the more sinister end, employees who had dedicated years of their lives to the organization were let go for no reason, or humiliatingly demoted to the point where they quit. HRF treated its female employees, to put it lightly, terribly (I too encourage others to read reviews from early 2020 and 2019 to hear more stories). Despite consistently making up over 80% of its workforce, women were not represented in C-Level positions until just recently. Women were denigrated and ridiculed in meetings for their ideas, only to see male employees take said ideas and receive acclaim for proposing them. Women who protested this hostile environment were belittled and gaslighted. Employees regularly worked 60+ hours a week without additional compensation, and working on the weekends, while not a requirement, was an absolute necessity if you wished to retain your job. A work-life balance was non-existent. Do not expect to be able to enjoy living in New York on a meager salary with the amount of work you will be expected to complete.
