High Turnover/Low Morale/Innovative Company Because of the openness to new strategies and methods, the company ends up using their efforts on overambitious ideas. Staff members are often asked, and even expected, to put aside their work to help figure out how to utilize the company?s latest ideas, which can end up wasting a lot of time. The current office set-up is a large space which was designed for collaboration and modern office style. However, one employee can be speaking loudly while another is trying to work quietly on their work, which can sometimes be a major distraction. In addition to that, everyone?s eyes seem to be on each other. Too much attention can be paid on what time people come in and leave the office, to the point where it would have to be a secret if you receive permission to leave early. There are also cameras set-up throughout the office which can set an overbearing tone for the employees, as employees fear that they?re always being watched from the top. Because nearly every employee is taking on more than their titled role, it poses an additional challenge that desk sizes and work spaces are small. There?s very limited space for printed drawings, books, and general paperwork making it hard to keep projects organized; most construction offices on the other hand, have plan spaces so their employees can read drawings and scope better. There seemed to be a lack of understanding that everyone has a different learning curve, and individuals can?t take on work with no relevant prior experience and little supervision. This often leads to scapegoating to both inexperienced and experienced workers alike. Turnover is also not uncommon for the company. In an office space of 30-35 individuals, at least 20 people had come and go the last few years, many of whom were let go.
