Cold and Unsupportive If you?re looking for a work environment that is warm, supportive, and appreciative, then you?ve come to the wrong place. SGG does little to support its faculty and help them feel successful in the classroom. There?s a lot of inconsistency, and only some people have to play by the rules due to the political nature of the school. Unless you?re friends with the ?right? people or have been there for 10+ years, the administration is cold and unsupportive. If you ask for help you are shunned and made to feel like you don?t know what you?re doing, when really you?re just drowning from the severe lack of curriculum resources and general inconsistencies. Associate Teachers are expected to teach two small groups on their own, attend all specials, present during homeroom instruction at all times, and are often not given any prep or break time throughout the day. I don?t even know how it?s legal. There is hardly any opportunity for growth and Head Teachers are not taught how to help coach. Little to no consideration is given to Associate/Head teacher pairings, which creates a toxic environment when issues arrive. HR is extremely unhelpful and considered the joke of the school. I now work at another school where I feel truly supported and appreciated, and I realize now just how toxic and damaging my experience working at SGS was. No one deserves to feel like they aren?t good enough. Stay away from Gaynor.
