Unprofessional, impulsive top-level management Top-level employees with no business in journalism or newsrooms have taken a passionate, budding editorial team hostage. Writers and editors are forced to write unethical clickbait, work long hours, weekends and spontaneous night shifts created by top-level management. All decisions are made amongst one or two employees - editorial directors and editors often express frustrations in not having their ideas/input heard. The company has been unable to find an executive editor to lead the editorial team since NPR's Maddhulika Sikka's sudden departure after a very short stint working at Mic. Employees are undervalued, disrespected and seen as easily replaceable. Coworkers and entire teams of editorial sections have been cut without any explanation since the company's rapid expansion.
