Toxic Organization Whereas the rest of the world is embracing values of accountability, innovation, strategy and agility, City Harvest is doing business with values that model a year 1999 organization, not a 2019 organization. The organization is extremely toxic which is why there is very high turnover. It starts with senior leadership who are overly complacent and kill any innovation, and HR that does next to nothing to promote programs that can drive engagement and retention in the 21st century. For a nonprofit that specializes in food rescue, you would expect the organization to be very resourceful, but it is shocking how wasteful City Harvest is with their donors' money.
