Lack of consistency and integrity Cons From the application process through my last day, this place was disorganized, full of blame, and mistreated employees. I thought it was weird that as a candidate for the director position I didn't interview with anyone that would be on my team (didn't meet them until day one--awkward!). A member of the Board of Directors was supposed to call to interview me and never did. Despite my credentials and job description I was never given access to a budget, personnel files, or invited to a Board meeting. An employee handbook wasn't even available to me for the first 4 months that I was there! I was supposed to oversee two managers, and they both were gone within 5 weeks of my arrival--and never rehired. I ended up doing the work of 3 job descriptions, and burned out quickly. I also spent the entire time here mopping up financial messes caught in audits. The worst part was the absolute lack of support. There was no acknowledgement that my team's work was very difficult (case management of homeless vets, impoverished seniors, formerly incarcerated, etc.), but rather criticism rained down every time we could not produce a client to publicly share their success story (even though they were understandably timid about sharing their painful pasts). To the outside world this place is a shiny penny. But as shiny as it is, the real value of a penny is next to nothing.
