A mix of exciting and toxic The company and its culture are entirely different from several years ago. It now feels like it operates as a Canadian branch of a US corporation rather than the local Canadian company it started as. Esentire has trended more and more lately towards hiring new outside talent rather than developing talent internally. A smaller US firm was bought in order to accelerate growth in certain directions, but in less than a year organizational shifts brought most of the Canadian teams to report under the US teams, causing a lot of alienation. There has been a trend lately to outsource some work, leading to payoffs of full time employees. High-performance employees are still only getting raises to closely match cost of living rather than provide any form of advancement or recognition for exceptional service. Projects of high risk and complexity are pushed to completion in a matter of months when more suited to a year or more, without adequate planning or consideration for the workload placed on employees. Work/Life balance suffers greatly.
