Avoid for safety reasons (Somerville) There are serious safety issues at BKB. There are older, frayed ropes that are almost impossible to belay with, and we have complained to management that they need to be replaced. Management refuses to replace the ropes because they are expensive, resulting in the belayer not being able to catch up to climbers. In the summer, there are many kids around during BKB?s summer camp who have no regard for safety and hang out directly underneath boulderers. The summer camp counselors are always overwhelmed because the kid-to-counselor ratio is very high. There has also been a lice issue with a kid with lice rolling around on the mats, with no intensive cleaning afterwards. Frankly this is an awful place to work and most people are looking to get out of here. Management only cares about financials and doesn?t even care about climbers.
