Fleur Revell has won three awards for journalism and has worked on some of New Zealand's highest profile stories. She was also awarded the CAANZ Gold Award for Best Long-Term Strategic Campaign for her public relations work and today represents some of the best-known FMCG, IT and travel and tourism brands.
Fleur is one of New Zealand's most successful PR practitioners. Fleur specialises in branding, social media, FMCG PR and crisis and issues management and is also a media commentator on PR industry issues. Her current client portfolio includes many blue chip clients, large international FMCG organisations and IT clients. Fleur enjoys the diversification of her client base and their public relations requirements which range from media training to crisis management, leveraging sponsorships, PR activations, events, content creation and social media campaigns. Along with her public relations work she is interested in supporting New Zealand charities and is a former Board Member of Variety The Children's Charity.
Fleur grew up in Wellington and attended Chilton Saint James school, she has a Bachelor of Arts degree from Victoria University Wellington, a Certificate in Journalism from Wellington Polytech and also holds certificates in marketing and nutrition. Fleur has a media career which spans 21 years and has seen her work as a television presenter, reporter and producer, magazine editor and newspaper journalist.
She has worked at the Sunday Star-Times as a senior reporter, weekly magazine New Idea as it's editor, and as a freelance journalist for New Zealand's largest metropolitan newspaper The New Zealand Herald. She has also worked as a staff writer for More and Next magazines and has had work published in NZ Retail magazine, NZ House & Garden, Style and Femme Fitness, NZ Fitness magazines, the Western Leader and The Daily Post
Her television credits include prime-time presenting roles for shows; Revell with a Cause, Car Crazy, Destination Planet Earth, Whose House Is It Anyway for the TV3 and TVNZ networks. Fleur is also a former producer and reporter at Television New Zealand and worked on shows including Tonight, Breakfast, One News and Sportsnight. During her career as a journalist Fleur worked on some of New Zealand's most high profile cases and throughout her career her journalism rounds included; health, social welfare, crime and justice, general news, sports news and police reporting.
During her time as a journalist Fleur established a diverse range of valuable contacts in both the public and private sectors.
She was awarded three Qantas Awards for excellence in journalism, this included the award for Feature Writer of the Year, Crime and Justice Writer and Human Relations Writer. Her public relations works was also recently recognised recently with Fleur awarded the CAANZ Gold Award for Best Long-Term Strategic Campaign. This was for her strategic plan and implementation of a charitable campaign embarked on by one of her clients.
Before starting her own company Fleur worked at Hill & Knowlton where she led the health practice at an Asia Pacific conference and conducted media training for many key executives at blue chip companies. She then moved to a smaller consumer agency where she honed her FMCG marketing and branding skills before establishing her own company Impact PR in 2006. Within just three months she had secured two of New Zealand's most prestigious PR accounts Air New Zealand Fashion Week and Johnson & Johnson and the company quickly grew. It is now recognised as one of New Zealand's premier boutique PR agencies with its directors taking a hands on approach to the day to day running of accounts.
Fleur has been responsible for creating strategic PR campaigns for many blue chip clients and internationally recognised FMCG brands. She is an experienced crisis communications PR practitioner and is regularly called on by media for commentary on public relations industry issues including, branding, sponsorship, crisis communications and now marketing in the digital age. Fleur has commented on industry issues on Radio Live Newstalk ZB and in The New Zealand Herald,
Fleur's experience as a journalist is also a valuable tool in preparing her clients for media interviews and she offers in-depth media training for her clients. Fleur works with her clients to ensure they are prepared for each unique media opportunity and has a special talent for ensuring her clients are able to communicate their key messages to fit each media opportunity and to communicate effectively with key target audiences.
She is extremely experienced in sponsorship management and leveraging these sponsorships for the mutual benefit of organisations and her clients. She has been involved in publicity work for clients surrounding the Olympic and Commonwealth Games and other charitable and high profile partnerships.
