Brothers and sisters are welcome at Juniata College, an independent, co-educational school affiliated with the Church of the Brethren. The college offers bachelor of arts and bachelor of science degrees in nearly 100 programs in some two dozen academic departments. Students are encouraged to design their own majors or "programs of emphasis" (POEs); nearly half do just that. Its most popular POEs include biology and pre-health, accounting, business, education, environmental science, psychology, chemistry, and sociology. Founded in 1876, Juniata College enrolls approximately 1,500 students each year, about two-thirds of whom are from Pennsylvania
