Community Integrated Services

Community Integrated Services (CIS) is Greater Philadelphia?s leading provider of Supported Employment services to people with disabilities. CIS began as a small pilot project at Temple University in 1989 serving 10 people through 3 staff members. CIS became an independent 501(c)(3) organization in 1991, and has since grown to serve over 1300 individuals across Greater Philadelphia annually. In 2001, CIS was recruited by DE Division of Developmental Services to expand the employment of Delawareans with disabilities, and has since grown to serve over 600 annually statewide. CIS has a singular focus of helping people with disabilities obtain and retain sustainable, competitive employment. Our many programs help participants explore careers, develop skills, secure strength-based employment, gain independence at work, advance in their careers, and work towards financial self-sufficiency. CIS serves adults and youth with intellectual, developmental, physical, and mental health disabilities, as well as autism, traumatic brain injury, visual impairments, hearing impairments, and other conditions that affect a person?s ability to work independently. Many of those served experience multiple disabilities and/or are considered to have the most significant disabilities. 55% are African-American, 70% belong to a minority group, and over 95% receive government benefits such as SSA cash benefits, Medicaid, housing assistance, SNAP, and other forms of public assistance. Despite the multitude of challenges faced by our target population, CIS has helped thousands of people reach their employment goals.
