Have you heard the one about the woodworker, the gardener, and the cook? August Home Publishing Company certainly has. The publisher produces five magazines geared toward home improvement and the domestic arts: woodworking titles Woodsmith and ShopNotes; house project source My Home My Style; gardening magazine Garden Gate; and Cuisine at home for cooks. In addition, the company operates retail store The Woodsmith Store (in a suburb of Des Moines, Iowa), and its The Woodsmith Shop TV show airs on public television. It also operates a wholesale division that supplies home centers with tools, plans, and hardware kits, as well as a mail-order business. August Home was founded by president Donald Peschke in 1979.
