Heron Foods

Heron Foods is a limited range value grocery retailer. We trade in local neighbourhoods and centres and are proud of our association with the communities we serve. The majority of our store portfolio is made up of small to medium sized units, most of which open long, flexible hours. In a survey by The Grocer magazine of the top fifty independent grocery retailers, Heron Foods was ranked ninth by turnover (Source: The Grocer magazine, 5 March 2016). We opened our first store in 1979 on Holderness Road in Hull and it proved to be an immediate success with local people, so much so that we opened further stores in quick succession throughout Hull and the East Riding of Yorkshire and then further afield in Lincolnshire, South and North Yorkshire, and the Midlands. We employ over 3,200 people within our stores and headquarters in Melton, near Hull UK City of Culture 2017. In 2016, Heron Foods bucked industry trends by opening 14 new stores.
