Precision Optics plays it up close and personal. The company makes specialized video cameras and stereo endoscopes for use in minimally invasive surgery. Its other products include laparoscopes (for abdominal surgery) and arthroscopes (for joint surgery), as well as sterilizable image couplers and beamsplitters that connect endoscopes to video cameras. The US is Precision Optics' biggest market, accounting for almost all sales, although the company has received regulatory approval to sell its products in Europe. In 2008 the company sold it custom optical thin film coatings business to privately held Optometrics, a subsidiary of Dynasil.
