In 2005, our Founder and CEO Hamdi Ulukaya took a loan from the Small Business Administration, bought an old yogurt plant in upstate New York, and brought a small group of passionate individuals together to make the real, wholesome yogurt that he remembered from his childhood. He called the company Chobani – “shepherd” in Turkish – to endow it with the hard-working and compassionate spirit of the mountain farmer. For the next two years, Hamdi devoted himself to the craft, carefully building his team to ensure quality from the ground up. In 2007, his dream to make delicious, nutritious, natural, and accessible yogurt finally came to fruition, when the very first cup of Chobani Greek Yogurt hit the shelf. Our founding mission is to make “better food for more people.” Chobani disrupted the yogurt category by making higher protein Greek yogurt, with only natural ingredients, accessible and delicious. Over a decade later, Chobani has become America’s No.1 selling Greek yogurt while continuously innovating, launching oatmilks, non-dairy probiotic drinks, dairy- and plant-based creamers, and ready-to-drink coffees. All Chobani products are kosher certified, and are made without any artificial flavors, sweeteners, or preservatives. As we elevate nutrition for millions of people, Chobani also uses food as a force for good in the world – putting humanity first in everything we do. Our philanthropic efforts focus on giving a portion of the company’s annual profits to support the needs of our communities. At Chobani, we put people first in everything we do. We’ve been recognized numerous times for being an innovative, inclusive and overall great place to work. In every benefit, perk, reward and program, we seek to be an industry leader that goes above and beyond – from a $15 minimum wage in our factories to six weeks of paid parental leave to Chobani Rewards, giving every full-time member of the company the opportunity to share in the growth of Chobani. With manufacturing sites in New York, Idaho and Australia, Chobani products are available throughout North America and distributed in Asia and Latin America. Mission: From that first revived yogurt factory in New Berlin, New York, to a gleaming state-of-the-art facility in Twin Falls, Idaho, to an international foothold in Australia and beyond – we will continue to grow and change, but our roots will remain embedded in our founding mission: bringing better food to more people.
