The name may conjure images of a solitary tree atop a gently rising hill, but don't be fooled: Oak Hill Capital Partners is all business. The private equity firm invests in middle market companies in the US and abroad, pursuing opportunities organized in six industry groups: business and financial services; consumer, retail, and distribution; health care; media and telecom; technology; and basic industries. Texas billionaire Robert Bass, who also owns and runs investment firm Keystone Group, is Oak Hill's lead investor. Founded in 1999, the company is currently investing from its third fund, which closed in 2009 with some $3.8 billion of capital commitments.
