University of Houston System

Whether you're looking for heat, humidity, or higher education, Houston's the place for you. The University of Houston System can't do much about the first two, but more than 54,000 students seek the latter at four Houston-area universities. Flagship institution the University of Houston was founded in 1927 and offers about 300 bachelor's, master's, and doctoral degree programs. Also under the system's umbrella are the University of Houston-Clear Lake, the University of Houston-Downtown, the University of Houston-Victoria, and learning centers in Cinco Ranch and Sugar Land, Texas. The system was established in 1977.
