Students at The University of Manchester stand united. The largest single-site university in the UK, The University of Manchester is intent on becoming one of the top research universities in the world. With and enrollment of about 35,000, the school offers more than 500 degree programs, including accounting and finance, law, medicine, physics, and astronomy. It counts about two dozen Nobel laureates among its current and former alumni, faculty, and researchers, including physicist Niels Bohr, economist Arthur Lewis, and chemist John Polyani. The university, with roots tracing back to 1824. The Victoria University of Manchester and UMIST merged in 2004 to form The University of Manchester.
