An active investor, the company usually holds its stakes for five to seven years. It focuses on a range of industries, with prominent holdings in such sectors as health care, communications, energy, media, technology, financial services, and consumer goods. Formed in 1966 by the late Lionel Pincus, Warburg Pincus helped pioneer the concept of raising investment capital from financial institutions rather than wealthy families.
