Founded in 1988, Prospect Capital's investment focus has been alternative investment strategies. Prospect was founded by two senior executives who previously managed the merchant bank and high yield bond groups of Merrill Lynch & Co. Today Prospect is run by John Barry who joined Prospect in 1990. John previously served as a senior investment and merchant banker at Merrill Lynch & Co. where he executed more than $4 billion in debt financings. Prospect is known as a leader in the alternative investment industry, with a focus on private corporate debt, real estate private equity, and structured credit.
