Shema-Kolainu-Hear Our Voices was founded in 1998. It began with a small group of 3 children. At the time, most autistic children were not provided with care plan and goals to achieve. Rather, they were placed in a day care that provided basic necessities. Understanding that children with autism can achieve more, Dr. Joshua Weinstein pioneered his vision that help transform the autism landscape of NYC's education system. Today, Shema Kolainu's community-based educational and therapeutic network serves over 1,000 children. As always, Shema Kolainu is in the forefront of autism education and is constantly looking for ways to create a better future for these children. In 2004, Dr. Weinstein founded iCare4Autism to serve as the catalyst that drives collaborations among similar international institutions to discover the etiology of autism, search for biologic and environmental causes, and ultimately work toward better methods of detection and treatment. iCare4Autism is another way to bring hope to children with autism and their parents. Mission:?To hear the voices of the children and families that we serve as they strive to achieve their full potential for independence, productivity, and inclusion in the community. The high standard and quality of care displayed by all of our staff is achieved through their expertise and ability to hear, and learn from, those who they serve.
