The University of Cincinnati (UC) is a research institution offering undergraduate, graduate, and professional education from its seven campuses in Ohio. The university enrolls some 41,000 students and has more than a dozen colleges. Academic offerings include business, law, medicine, applied science, pharmacy, and music and offers about 70 doctoral programs and roughly 240 other degree programs. The institution has a student-teacher ratio of 15:1. UC was founded in 1819 and became a state university in 1977; the school has an endowment of close to $1 billion. Notable alumni include former US president William Howard Taft and architect Michael Graves.
