The fast sport of waterskiing rides on Correct Craft. The company makes several boats marketed under the Nautique brand. Correct Craft models include Super Air Nautique, Crossover Nautique, and the high-tech Ski Nautique 200 lineup. The company introduced the first wakeboard specific boat designed with a fiberglass hull in 1997. Correct Craft evolved from the Florida Variety Boat Co., founded in 1925 by Walter "W.C." Meloon. After 80 years of family ownership, Correct Craft is led by its founder's great-grandson, chairman Ken Mellon, but held by investment firm Ambassador Enterprises. In the wake of the boating industry's downturn in 2009, the company laid off about a third of its workforce.
