The story of Vital Farms begins back in 2007 on a 27 acre family farm in Austin, TX. Our founders were soon selling to Farmers’ Markets around Austin, and were quickly discovered by Whole Foods’ wonderful local foragers, who started selling the newly branded ‘Vital Farms’ Pasture-raised Organic Eggs in 2008. Now in partnership with over 200 small family farmers, Vital Farms offers authentic pasture-raised eggs, butter, and ghee. We were founded on the principles of Conscious Capitalism, and we operate a Stakeholder Model, considering the impact on each stakeholder to drive our business. In 2016 we were recognized as a Certified B-Corp. Mission: Vital Farms’ core mission is to bring ethically produced food to the table by coordinating a collection of family farms to operate with a well defined set of organic agricultural practices that includes the humane treatment of farm animals as a central tenet.
