Founded in 1998, Real Intent is one of several start-ups struggling with the problems of functional verification with its semiconductor design tools. Customers include Sun Microsystems, AMD, Marvell Technology Group, nVidia, and NEC Electronics. To promote adoption of the Property Specification Language (PSL) standard created by the Accellera industry organization, Real Intent in 2003 become one of 15 companies to join a new group, the PSL/Sugar Consortium. Sugar is a design assertion language originally developed by IBM that formed the basis for the PSL.
