The Murphy twins, Mike and Pat, started a little company called Murphy, Murphy & Co. in 1980 after they had both started successful careers with Big 8 accounting firms. The beginnings of Murphy, Murphy & Co. were modest, preparing tax returns in the trunks of Pat and Mike’s cars, but the brothers thrived building their own business and steadily increased their clientele year by year. Karen Hillman joined the company as a bookkeeper in 1982, and quickly rose to the position of office manager. She became a partner in 1987 and the firm continued to grow. With an eye on keeping things in the family, Mike and Pat asked their father, B. Patrick Murphy, to join his company with theirs and Murphy, Murphy & Murphy CPAs’ was born. Murphy, Murphy and Murphy was happy to invite Jim Salfity as a partner in 2001. After 15 years of asking the last partner into the firm, Murphy, Murphy and Murphy invited two more partners into the firm; Kristi Reynolds and Richard Miramontes in 2017. The company has grown over the years to employ more than 75 full time employees and a staff that swells to more than 90 during the busiest months of January through April. The office is broken into 4 different teams. Each partner has their own team of professionals and administrative support staff that work together to provide excellent service to clients year round.
