Never heard of the Federal Home Loan Bank of Chicago? You’re not alone. You won’t find a branch in your neighborhood, or even an ATM. We are a bank for banks—and other financial institutions. FHLBC is a cooperative owned by banks, thrifts, credit unions, community development financial institutions, and insurance companies that are located in Illinois and Wisconsin. These “member” financial institutions represent a cross-section of financial institutions serving urban centers to rural areas. Our mission is to partner with our members to provide them competitively priced funding, a reasonable return on their investment, and support for community investment activities.
