Just getting into Bucknell University is an accomplishment. The highly selective private liberal arts school accepts only about 10% of applicants each year. Students who do get in, some 3,400 of them from around the world, have the option to specialize in more than 50 majors and 60 minors. Bucknell confers both undergraduate and master's degrees in the liberal arts, sciences, engineering, and music. It also offers programs in pre-law and pre-med. Bucknell tuition and fees total about $48,000; more than half of the student body typically receives financial aid. The school's student-to-faculty ratio is 11-to-1. Bucknell was founded in 1846 as the University at Lewisburg.
