The Big Issue

The Big Issue Company Ltd was founded in 1991 as a business response to the social problem of homelessness. We provide a legal way for people to earn money and stand on their own two feet. Big Issue vendors buy our award-winning magazine, The Big Issue, for £1.25 and sell to the public for £2.50, keeping the profit. The Big Issue Foundation was founded in 1995 to provide support to our vendors. The newest part of our organisation is Big Issue Invest, which invests in social enterprises and charities that prevent and tackle poverty by creating jobs and other opportunities for people across the UK. You can support our work by buying a magazine from a vendor, by buying a subscription to the magazine if you are not within reach of a vendor, or by donating to our charitable Foundation.
