Village Enterprise

Village Enterprise is an innovative microenterprise development organization working in East Africa. Our mission is to end extreme poverty in rural Africa through entrepreneurship and innovation. Village Enterprise provides business skills and financial literacy training, seed capital, on-going mentoring, and the formation of business savings groups to new entrepreneurs. This year we have helped 13,500 East Africans start over 4,500 new businesses. Village Enterprise began in 1987 and, since then, has started over 43,000 businesses and impacted over 940,000 lives. Our new strategic plan outlines our roadmap for rapid scaling. By 2020, we will lift an additional 700,000 rural Africans out of extreme poverty—that’s as many in the five years as in our previous 30-year history!
