St. Bonaventure University is a private Catholic liberal arts institution in southwestern New York. With some 2,700 students, the liberal arts school offers both undergraduate majors and graduate programs in areas including education, psychology, and journalism. A group of Franciscan friars live on the campus, and the university is the home of the School of Franciscan Studies and the Franciscan Institute, which conduct research and education on the history, spirituality, and intellectual life of the Franciscan movement. St. Bonaventure University was founded in 1858 by the Franciscan Friars of the Holy Name Province.
