The Puerto Rican Family Institute (PRFI) wants to keep families intact and healthy. It offers more than 20 social and health care programs to families who live in primarily Latino neighborhoods in New York and New Jersey, as well as Puerto Rico. Services include mental health treatment through clinics in the Bronx, Brooklyn, Jersey City, Manhattan, and Queens; crisis intervention; foster care placement prevention programs; and Head Start programs. PRFI also reaches out to the mentally and developmentally disabled by operating intermediate care and residential alternative facilities. The not-for-profit serves those infected with AIDS through counseling, psychiatric services, and case management.
