Phoenix Solar

This phoenix rose from the Ph?nix Solar Initiative of the Association of Energy Consumers, a German consumer initiative to find inexpensive solar power for residential water heating. Phoenix Solar, formerly Ph?nix SonnenStrom, became as a commercial enterprise in 1999. It covers both ends of the solar energy spectrum, selling rooftop systems to consumers while the branch in Ulm designs and constructs large solar power plants. Phoenix has subsidiaries in Spain, Italy, and Singapore where it builds solar power plants, usually in a joint venture with a local partner and financing firm KG Allgemeine Leasing. Once the plants are operational, Phoenix hands them over to an operator.
