The company has a long history of converting swords into plowshares, or in this case, nuclear weapons into nuclear fuel. It converts weapons-grade highly enriched uranium to low-enriched uranium that can be used as fuel for nuclear power plants. NFS also provides decontamination, decommissioning, and remediation of nuclear sites, as well as packaging and shipping of nuclear materials. The company was acquired by Babcock & Wilcox in 2008 for almost $160 million.
