CoServ is not your average utility. We?re a not-for-profit electric distributor with a natural gas distribution affiliate. Established in 1937 as Denton County Electric Cooperative, we?ve been doing business as CoServ Electric and CoServ Gas since 1998. We now have more than 9,300 miles of energized line serving more than 210,000 electric meters across parts of Denton, Collin, Cooke, Grayson, Tarrant and Wise counties. CoServ Gas, established in 1998, serves more than 105,000 gas meters in Denton, Collin and Kaufman counties. The cooperative model is different. Unlike investor-owned utilities, CoServ Electric is owned by the people we serve. Members receive money back in the form of Capital Credits, elect their Board of Directors and participate in the Annual Meeting.
