Volterra Semiconductor aims to usher in a new era in voltage control for microchips. The fabless semiconductor company designs and markets low-voltage power supply chips, primarily voltage regulators for the data networking, computer, consumer electronics, servers and storage, and telecomm industries. Its products are designed to replace several power management components with a single device. Volterra outsources fabrication of its products, primarily to GLOBALFOUNDRIES and Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing, among other contractors. IBM and Hon Hai are top customers of Volterra. Nearly all of the company's sales come from international customers.
