(The two papers' business operations are managed by the Detroit Media Partnership, which oversees business, marketing, and manufacturing operations while the newspapers keep separate editorial staffs.) The Detroit News boasts a daily circulation of about 180,000, and also operates on the Web through Detroit News Online. The paper was founded in 1873 and was acquired by Gannett in 1986.
