Here's our history: Texans Credit Union is a not-for-profit financial cooperative, chartered in the State of Texas. In 1953, 11 Texas Instruments employees pooled five dollars each to establish an organization that promoted thrift and provided low-cost loans to TI employees. For nearly 40 years the Credit Union served only Texas Instruments employees. In 1991 Texins expanded its field of membership to include employees of other companies outside of TI and then in 1998, expanded again by adopting a community charter. The name also changed in 1998 to Texans to better reflect the diversity of the new field of membership.
