One of the most misunderstood elements in chemistry is GlobiTech's ingredient for success. Using silicon (not silicone) and an epitaxy process, the company creates wafers for integrated circuit makers. The wafers tout an extra layer of single-crystal silicon on top, along with physical properties, that make them ideal for advanced semiconductors with narrow circuit dimensions. (All of Intel's microprocessors are made on epitaxial wafers.) GlobiTech epi wafers are produced on equipment from Applied Materials and other vendors. Blue chip customers include International Rectifier, ROHM, and Vishay Intertechnology. Formed in 1999, GlobiTech was acquired in 2008 and is a subsidiary of Sino-American Silicon Products.
